This superb full-size French violin is labelled "The Professor Violin, No.2, Hawkes & Son 1927 . . .", pencilled initials can be seen on the back through the right ff hole.
This is one of those violins that punches well above its' weight. Definately top of the Hawkes & Son range.
Terrific full/rounded tone, even across strings, lovely response, a delight to play.
Original golden/amber varnish throughout with a beautiful one-piece back. Chamfers picked out in black.
Apart from wear to front edges, this violin is in excellent condition - no cracks or restorations.
It is set-up with quality rosewood and ebony fittings, a bridge by Withers and Tonica strings.
Length of back 360mm.
