SOLD French Violin made for Hawkes & Son 1913

This lovely antique full-size French violin was made for Hawkes & Son in 1913. Label reads "The Concert Violin, 1913, Hawkes & Son, Denman Street, Piccadilly Circus, London W" Also numbered "3719" in ink.

It is in excellent condition, practically mint with only minor blemishes to varnish. No damage or restorations.

It has a handsome two-piece flamed maple back and matching ribs. Lovely golden/amber varnish.

Excellent tone for a violin in this price range, good projection and easy response across strings.

It has a new set-up with quality rosewood & ebony fittings, a professionally cut bridge and Pirastro Tonica strings.

Length of back 358mm.

This is a great sounding instrument suitable for Grade 8 students and beyond.
