Italian Violin - follower of Pressenda. Turin c1860.

Has a letter of opinion from John Dilworth dated May 2025.

"The violin is in my opinion by a maker of the Turin school, a follower of Pressenda, made circa 1860-70."

Glorious deep red varnish with an amber background.

Delightfully flamed one-piece maple back with matching ribs.

Slim pegbox.  Distinctive fluting around lower eyes of ff holes.

Set-up with quality rosewood fittings, a professionally cut bridge and Passione strings.

Has had some excellent historic restoration work, including pegbox cheeked/bushed.  Some replaced linings and top block.

Glorious condition.

It has a repair inscription dated 1880.  End of fingerboard numbered "4992". (not Hill).

The Dendro dates the wood on the front to a much earlier date 1710/1721.

354/5mm.

Not only is this the most glorious looking violin, please try it to hear for yourself!
