This lovely condition full-size English violin was made by and labelled "Joseph Wade, Maker, Leeds, No. 51, A.D. 1885". It is also branded on the lower rib by the end button and internally.
Very neat workmanship both internally and extrernally on this handcrafted violin. Unusual slight burr to the maple neck. Deeply scooped fluting on sides of pegbox, travelling down to first peg. Original varnish is plentiful.
It has a handsome two-piece flamed maple back and matching ribs. Lovely golden/amber varnish.
Excellent tone for a violin in this price range, good projection and easy response across strings.
It has a new set-up with quality ebony fittings, a professionally cut bridge and Pirastro Tonica strings.
Length of back 359mm.
This is a great sounding instrument suitable for college/academy students or the discerning amateur.
