Richard Duke violin c1770

Client:

Year:

Amazing opportunity to own a rare mostly unaltered baroque violin by Richard Duke c1770.

It has its original bass bar, original neck with original top block with nail fixing. A slightly small violin, but neck length etc all in proportion.

Branded "Duke" on back, twice.

A two-piece back with charming flame, dark brown varnish.

Chips to scroll and restored cracks to front (not soundpost).

It has been set-up with a baroque style bridge and tailpiece, with Optima gut strings.

Delightful full and rich tone with a lovely response.

(Can also be set-up with modern bridge etc, but due to the short original neck it may not suit players with larger hands).
