John Furber violin labelled Button & Purday 1806

John Furber violin labelled Button & Purday 1806

Antique English violin labelled "Button and Purday, 75 St Paul's Yard, London 1806".

Most likely made by John Furber.

Also, inscribed "bass bar repaired by C A Wiggins, Blackpool June 1908".

Absolutely glorious one piece back with boxwood purfling.

Original neck/scroll, LOB 356mm - all in proportion.

Some repairs to front (not soundpost or bass bar), pegbox cheeked, historic small edge replacement and some retouch.

Newly set up with quality ebony fittings, professionally cut bridge and Pro Arte strings.

A delight to play, easy response, even across strings, wonderful tone. Looking for a professional player or discerning amateur. What a delight!
